Gandhara filmfest to receive Iran’s ‘F55’

Iranian ‘F55’ is to vie at the Gandhara Independent Film Festival in Pakistan.

Iranian short documentary ‘F55’ has been set to participate in the 2021 edition of the Gandhara Independent Film Festival (GIFF) in Pakistan.

Nasser Nasserpour’s 35-minute doc will go on screen at the Main Competition program of the 2nd edition of the Pakistani fest.

‘F55’ is about Hamed Amiri, an Iranian paralympics silver medalist. In 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he won the medal in the men’s shot put F55 event.

Amiri started off as a contestant at Iran’s Strongest Men matches, where he succeeded to win the first prize for a number of times.

When he was preparing to represent Iran at the Strongest Men competition in Finland, an accident left him paralyzed.

The accident took away his legs but not his determination and hope. He worked hard against his new disability and gained honors later as a Paralympic athlete.

The theme of the GIFF 2021 is on mental health. According to the official website of the event, it aims to challenge the negative perspective towards the mental illness.

The upcoming edition of the fest will be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic on January 9-10.
